Man shot at Lakeland detectives, ‘clearly attempting to kill’ them: LPD

A man accused of “clearly attempting to kill” two Lakeland police detectives was arrested Wednesday.

Arthur Jared Williams fired at the detectives in a police vehicle in the 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue on Tuesday, according to Lakeland police.

The vehicle was hit several times, but the detectives were not hurt. Williams was arrested in the Tampa area early Wednesday morning.

Lakeland Chief of Police Sam Taylor will discuss the arrest in a news conference Wednesday afternoon. It will be streamed live in the video player above.
