A man was shot in Palmetto in a road rage incident Monday morning.
Palmetto police received a call at 3:15 a.m. stating a man was shot near Walmart on US-301 and was driving himself to Manatee Memorial Hospital.
The 911 caller end the call did not respond when dispatchers tried to reach out to follow up. Officers went to the hospital, but there was no gunshot victim.
Bradenton police searched the area and found a pickup truck with several bullet holes in it, which belonged to the man who was shot. The driver, SP, 28, told officers the shooter was an acquaintance, but did not name them.
Bullet casings were found at the site of the shooting and witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area.
The incident remained under investigation Monday as Palmetto police work to identify the shooter.
