Man shot in the head while driving on Edgewood Avenue: JSO

A man was critically injured Thursday night when he was shot in the head while driving on Edgewood Avenue in the Lackawanna area of the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said around 10 p.m., officers were called to Cassat Avenue, a few blocks north of I-10, because of reports that someone had been shot.

They found the man with a gunshot wound to his head, and he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police learned the man was driving on Edgewood Avenue South, near Cassat Avenue, when someone outside of the vehicle shot him.

A passenger in the vehicle was able to drive to a nearby area on Cassat Avenue and call police.
