A man was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering several gunshot wounds while driving downtown, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
JSO said the man was driving on Dennis Street near Myrtle Avenue to a local business when someone in another vehicle started shooting at his vehicle, causing him to wreck around 5:25 p.m.
Officers found the man suffering from injuries to his groin, back and arms. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but JSO said he was upgraded to stable condition.
JSO was looking for a red or burgundy sedan. No shooter has been arrested.
This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no believed threat to the community.
