Man struck, killed on US-1 near Oak Hill

A man walking or standing on U.S. 1 was struck and killed late Monday in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The deadly wreck happened around 10 p.m. on U.S. 1 at H H Burch Road near Oak Hill.

The FHP said the man was walking or standing in the northbound lane of U.S. 1 when he was struck by a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified by the FHP, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a crash report.

The driver, a 45-year-old Oak Hill man, was not injured and remained at the scene, troopers said.

U.S. 1 was blocked in the area after the crash.

No other details have been released.
