Man struck woman with machete, fled into woods in SW Miami-Dade: Sheriff

Authorities are investigating after they said a man struck a woman with a machete and then fled into a wooded area in southwest Miami-Dade Wednesday night.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. in the area of 137th Avenue and Southwest 8th Street.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said the man and woman were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated when the man pulled out a machete and struck the woman with the backside.

The woman wasn’t stabbed or lacerated but was taken to a local hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

After the incident, the man fled into a nearby wooded area, officials said.

Deputies and a K-9 were searching the area for the man and are investigating the incident.
