A Groveland man turned himself in Tuesday after allegedly punching his girlfriend when she tried to calm him down while he was upset about life.
On Nov. 16, deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a battery complaint at an undisclosed location, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female victim who advised that she was in a verbal altercation turned physical with her boyfriend of seven years, identified as 22-year-old J G.
The victim arrived at G’s residence and went into his bedroom to find him seemingly drunk. He was upset about his life, and as she tried to calm him down, he began screaming in her face. She put her arms in an X to shield herself and try to walk away from him, the affidavit said.
G once again got in the victim’s face moments later. As she tried to push him away, he struck her in the face with a closed fist about four times, causing her to bleed. She walked out of his bedroom when his grandmother was walking toward her and saw blood coming from her face, the affidavit said.
The affidavit noted deputies observed visible signs of injuries to the victim, including bruising and cuts to her nose and mouth. They tried to contact G at his residence, but he did not answer the door, the affidavit said.
G ultimately turned himself in Tuesday morning on a warrant charging him with simple battery (domestic). He was released from Lake County Jail after posting $2,000 bond.
