A 59-year-old man who was walking on US 301 in Nassau County after his car crashed was hit Wednesday night and killed, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to the FHP report, the 59-year-old man from Crescent City was walking down the middle of the highway near Ford Road around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A pickup truck headed west on US 301 in the inside lane “was unable to react in time” and hit the man, who was then pushed into a semi that was also headed west at the time, FHP said.
Troopers said the pedestrian had been involved in a single-car crash on Ford Road north of US 301 before he was hit.
The 43-year-old driving the pickup and the 68-year-old driving the tractor-trailer were not hurt. Both men were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
