Man with DUI history surrenders after murder in Lauderdale Lakes, deputies say

A 32-year-old man with a DUI history was behind bars on Sunday for the murder of a 28-year-old man in Broward County.

After the shooting, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies found Kevin Hasnali bleeding at about 1:30 a.m., in the parking lot of the Oakland Shopping Center, along North State Road Seven, near Northwest 44 Street, in Lauderdale Lakes.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel took Hasnali, of Sunrise, to the Broward Health Medical Center where he died. There was a search. Deputies reported the suspect, Djay Ramawad, surrendered on Sunday.

Correctional deputies booked Ramawad, of Pembroke Pines, at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale. He was facing charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm. He was also facing a charge for violating restrictions placed on his driver’s license.

Records show last year, Seminole police arrested Ramawad for possession of marijuana and DUI and Hollywood police arrested him for DUI and violating restrictions placed on his driver’s license.

The murder investigation was ongoing on Sunday afternoon. Detective Kristina Luna asked anyone with information about the case to call 954-321-4356, or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
