Man with knife accused of attempted murder in Palm Springs

A man who is a native of Tampa was booked in the Palm Beach County jail on an attempted murder charge.

Jose J. Miranda was arrested on New Year’s Day and charged with attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, on Monday, officers with the Palm Springs Police Department responded to the Cumberland Farms gas station located on 2700 South Military Trail regarding a stabbing.

The report notes a witness told law enforcement that when they walked out of the store, they observed a man later identified as Miranda stab a victim. The witness said they took the knife out of Miranda’s hands and threw the knife to the ground.

While disarming the 43-year-old Miranda, the witness allegedly sustained a stab wound to their finger and was bitten on the right arm by Miranda.

The witness was treated by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue for injuries sustained, while the stabbing victim was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.

The victim allegedly sustained stab wounds to their face, arms and legs and was bitten by Miranda on the left shoulder.

The Palm Springs Police Department noted in the document that the witness did not want to press charges against Miranda.

The document notes that police officers reviewed the surveillance video at the gas station, which showed Miranda come up from behind the victim while the victim was putting gas in their vehicle, pull out a knife and stab the victim. During the encounter, a fork fell out of Miranda’s pocket.

The video purportedly showed the victim run to the entrance of the gas station and fall to the ground.

The video then showed Miranda getting on top of Miranda and stabbing the victim until the witness intervened to help the victim.

In a statement to the police department, the victim said Miranda approached the victim and told the victim he was going to kill him today.

The victim added that they did not know Miranda.

On Tuesday, Miranda refused to make his first appearance in court and the court did not issue bond to Miranda.
