MARGATE, Fla. – An investigation continues as officers try to figure out what exactly led up to a vehicle slamming into the front of a Margate business on Saturday.
The front of that GameStop, located along West Atlantic Boulevard near State Road 7, has been boarded up after a vehicle belonging to the city of Margate crashed into it.
According to police, they responded to a car into a building crash and found the Margate Parks and Recreation vehicle had smashed into the storefront.
Two people were rushed to North Broward Medical Center as trauma alerts, but there has been no update on their status, police said.
No other information has been released by authorities, however the city of Margate released a press release Monday, saying that it is “cooperating fully to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the events leading up to this regrettable incident.”
“Our primary focus remains on the well-being of the injured individuals, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families during this difficult time,” the statement read. “We extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this incident. The City of Margate takes matters of public safety seriously, and we are working closely with law enforcement to gather all necessary information to determine the cause of the accident. We understand the concerns and questions that may arise from this incident, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.”
