A 36-year-old Fort McCoy man was killed on Friday evening after his motorcycle was rear-ended by another vehicle.
The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of County Road 315 and NE 225th Place at around 8:16 p.m. on Friday, October 26.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling south on CR 315 on a non-registered motorcycle without any lighting equipment.
At the same time, a pickup truck being driven by an 18-year-old man approached and collided with the back of the motorcycle.
According to FHP, the driver of the pickup truck was unable to observe the vehicle.
Upon impact, the motorcycle traveled onto the west grass area and into a ditch.
The pickup truck continued to travel south, coming to final rest just south of the area of collision on the west grass area.
No additional details were made available about the incident.
