Maryland man dies when sedan travels off road in Alachua County

A 27-year-old Maryland man died Sunday morning when his vehicle traveled off County Road 234 in Alachua County and struck a utility pole.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving a Saab sedan north on CR 234 just south of County Road 2082 at 1:30 a.m. in the unincorporated community of Rochelle when his vehicle left the road and struck the pole.

Alachua County Fire Rescue responders pronounced him dead on scene.
