Maryland woman allegedly attacks boyfriend in hotel room in Clermont

A Maryland woman was arrested for allegedly hitting her boyfriend in the face after he smashed her phone in their room at the Hampton Hotel.

An officer responded to the Hampton Hotel, located at 2200 E Hwy. 50, for a verbal dispute between 43-year-old TKR  and her boyfriend around 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer met a friend of R who had gotten a call from her a few minutes before he got there. She heard the boyfriend, upset and screaming, in the background of the call, so she rushed over to the hotel to make sure everything was okay. After getting to their room, she immediately began trying to calm both of them down and stop them from screaming at each other, the report said.

She managed to do so before law enforcement arrived. She did not see anything physical, adding they had frequent arguments but nothing where someone got hurt, the report said.

The officer then turned his attention to R, noticing she smelled strongly of alcohol and slurred her words. She also could not stand up without wobbling back and back, and at one point, she needed to sit down on the hallway floor, the report said.

She advised that after she got back from watching a football game, her boyfriend of over a year was asleep on his bed. She then tried to call his brother for an undisclosed reason. Her boyfriend woke up, grabbed the phone off the table and slammed it against the wall. She responded by striking him in the face, the report said.

R added that the pair had been intimate and stayed together once a week. He lived in Pennsylvania, about 40 minutes from her home in Maryland, the report said.

The boyfriend corroborated that he had been asleep when he heard her talking to his brother on the phone. He went over to ask who she was talking to and got upset, grabbing her phone and smashing it against the wall. She proceeded to hit him in the face and scream at him, the report said

He explained their arguments had never gotten physical, and R was dealing with a lot. He sustained a red mark on the left side of his face near his temple during this incident, the report said.

R was subsequently arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
