We deeply appreciate the dedication of the first responders and others who rushed to help Sunday night. We are cooperating with the investigation. Safety is the top priority for PSTA and the Clearwater Ferry.

According to Clearwater police, the crash appears to be a hit-and-run on the water, caused by a boat that struck the Clearwater Ferry and fled the scene.

The fire department declared it a mass casualty incident because of the number of people involved and the severity of injuries. There were 45 people on board the ferry.
