Melbourne woman killed in crash with tractor-trailer on SR-520 at SR-528

A 57-year-old Melbourne woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on State Road 520 near State Road 528 in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 6:15 a.m. on S.R. 520, south of S.R. 528.

The FHP said a 33-year-old Florida man was driving a 2025 Mack semitruck south on S.R. 520 and began to make a U-turn into the northbound lanes — into the direct path of a 2014 Honda Civic.

The front of the Honda collided with the rear right side of the big rig’s trailer, troopers said.

The woman, who was driving the Honda, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead, the FHP said.

The big rig driver was not hurt and remained at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
