A 22-year-old Melbourne woman was killed Thursday morning after overturning on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 4:25 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 178 near U.S. 192.
According to troopers, the 22-year-old was driving a 2011 Mazda 3 when the vehicle hit a guardrail and overturned, causing her to be ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 21-year-old Melbourne woman, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The interstate was briefly shut down but later reopened completely just after 8 a.m.
Another wreck happened near mile marker 180 just after 6 a.m., shutting down the interstate again for a brief time.
The crash involved three vehicles.
Two drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is ongoing in both wrecks.
