Metal sign in middle of the road leads to arrest of Fort Myers woman accused of DUI hit-and-run

A woman was arrested after troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol say she hit a road sign while drunk.

According to FHP, troopers noticed a metal street sign on the road on College Parkway near the Winkler Road intersection at 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

Troopers removed the sign and eventually found a 2011 Ford Mustang near US-41 driving slowly and with four-way flashers on. Troopers say the car also had damage to the front left tire.

Troopers stopped the driver, identified as Fallon Marie Cool, 21, and say she showed signs of impairment. Cool also reportedly told troopers she hit the sign. She admitted to drinking two beers and three shots and failed field sobriety tests.

Cool was arrested and reportedly submitted a breath sample of .194 BAC. She was charged with DUI with damage to property and hit-and-run.
