A 42-year-old Miami-Dade man was arrested early Tuesday morning on multiple felony charges after allegedly choking his girlfriend and threatening to kill her with a kitchen knife during two separate domestic violence incidents, authorities confirmed.
G G was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m. at his West Little River home by Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies, according to jail records.
G and his girlfriend, who have been in a relationship for approximately two years and live together, became involved in an argument that quickly escalated into violence, according to his arrest report.
The report states that G “straddled the victim while she was on the bed, pulled her hair, and began to choke her by placing his hands around her neck.”
The choking continued “to the point that her breathing was impeded, and she felt that she was losing consciousness,” according to the report.
The woman managed to retrieve her cellphone to call the police when deputies said G forcefully removed her phone from her hands and stated that he would kill her if she attempted to call 911.
The woman was able to wrestle her phone back and ran to her vehicle, but G followed her, opened her door, and punched her on the arm while she was seated inside of the vehicle, the report stated.
Hours later, when the victim returned to the residence, the violence escalated further.
The report states that G opened the door and punched the victim in the face before dragging her by her hair to the bedroom, where he again straddled and choked her while covering her mouth to prevent her from yelling.
When the woman said that she was going to call 911 for a second time, G pulled out a small kitchen knife from the drawer, held it up, and told the victim that if she contacted the police that he would kill her, according to the report.
Authorities said he then positioned himself in front of her while holding the knife and again told her he would kill her if she left.
The woman eventually reported the incident at the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Northside District Station and positively identified Gonzalez through a photograph, according to investigators.
Deputies said they returned with the victim to the residence, where they located G and took him into custody.
They said G invoked his constitutional rights and did not provide a statement to detectives.
Jail records show G is facing one count of armed robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon, burglary with assault or battery, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation and an additional battery charge.
Authorities did not say what sparked the argument between G and the victim.
As of Tuesday, the Nicaraguan national is being held on an immigration hold at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
