Miami-Dade PD: 2 arrested in connection with gang rape of 18-year-old

Miami-Dade police have arrested two men in connection with the gang rape of an 18-year-old woman.

According to the suspects’ arrest reports, the crime occurred around 5:20 a.m. on May 25 in Miami-Dade County’s 33179 area code.

Records show Deangelo Rene, 20, of Orlando, and Levar Reshun Holton, 20, of South Miami, face charges of armed/gang sexual battery and armed robbery.

They were both taken into custody on Wednesday.

According to police, the victim told detectives that she was approached by both men, who were wearing ski masks, and they ordered her to walk toward the area where the sexual battery was to occur while pressing a gun against her back.

Police said Holton raped the victim, and then handed Rene the gun.

According to the reports, Rene then ordered the victim to get on her knees while holding her at gunpoint and forced her to perform fellatio on him.

He also removed the victim’s personal property from her purse, authorities said.

Police said Rene and Holton then fled the scene.

According to police, the victim reported the sexual assault to police that same day and detectives collected evidence at the scene and took photos of the area.

The evidence collected, including a condom, were then sent to the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Forensic Services Division for processing.

A portion of the publicly released arrest reports detailing the lab results was redacted.

According to the reports, Rene admitted to the victim’s accusations, while Holton, who was being held at the Metro West Detention Center for unrelated charges, provided detectives with a “self-serving statement.”

As of Thursday afternoon, Rene was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.

Holton was being held at the Metro West Detention Center where his bond had yet to be set.
