A wounded man remained hospitalized early Friday morning in Miami-Dade County after a police pursuit ended with a car crash and a shooting.
According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, Antonio Vance, a 15-year-old boy, and others were in a dark blue Mercedes-Benz sedan when police officers ordered them to stop shortly after 11:15 p.m., near Northwest 37 Avenue and 145 Street.
Rodriguez identified Vance, 21, as the driver. There was a crash and several suspects jumped out of the car, police said. Police officers arrested Vance and the teenage boy, but they are still searching for others who were involved in the shooting that wounded the man.
The shooting was at the scene of the crash.
“The civilian driver of the vehicle involved shot at one of the subjects as the individual approached him with a firearm,” Rodriguez wrote in a statement. “This subject, an adult male, sustained a gunshot wound to one of his arms.”
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded and took the wounded man to Aventura Hospital. According to Rodriguez, the man’s condition was stable.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
