Miami-Dade woman hits boy over head with kitchen pot, breaks his finger, deputies say

A Miami-Dade woman was arrested Tuesday after deputies say she seriously injured a 9-year-old boy.

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, which does not detail the relationship between the suspect and victim, the alleged abuse occurred Sunday at a home in the 1300 block of Northwest 111th Street.

Deputies said the victim told them that the suspect, DR, 33, didn’t like the way he did the dishes so she grabbed a kitchen pot and struck him over the head with it, leaving a large cut to his scalp.

Authorities said R then ordered the boy to place his hand on the kitchen table and she struck his left hand with the pot, breaking his middle finger.

According to the report, R then proceeded to beat the victim with the pot on his arms and back and kicked him once in the stomach.

Deputies noted there were bruises left behind on the victim’s back, arms and stomach.

A statement made to detectives after her arrest was redacted from the publicly released report.

R was arrested on one count of aggravated child abuse.

As of Wednesday, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
