Miami Gardens police arrested a 27-year-old man who was accused of threatening a delivery driver with a machete.
Officers took J into custody on Friday along the 900 block of Northwest 196th Terrace.
According to authorities, an Amazon driver was attempting to deliver a package when J came out of the home next door and threw a machete in her direction.
Police said J then picked up the machete, “raising it as if he intended to strike her with it,” causing the Amazon driver to run to her vehicle and drive away while J, “chased after her with the machete,” according to an arrest form.
Responding officers went to J’s home and spoke with him there, where officers saw the machete in his possession, authorities said.
With the help of J’s father, officers were able to have him safely exit the home, police added.
J is facing a charge of attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and as of Monday morning, he remained behind bars at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond.
