OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —
A mother was arrested Monday in Osceola County after she was accused of restraining a 10-year-old boy so other children could beat him, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded to the Heritage Park Apartment Complex in reference to an incident involving juveniles.
Witnesses said there was a physical altercation involving a 10-year-old and a group of children playing at a community park nearby.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, one of the children involved left the park, went and got their mother, and brought her back to the area.
The woman who had just arrived and another mother then got into a verbal dispute with the children, OCSO said.
According to deputies, 41-year-old Ketsy Ann Rivera, one of the mothers, pushed her 8-year-old and 9-year-old toward the 10-year-old, and told them to strike the child.
Rivera then grabbed the child by his shirt, preventing him from leaving or defending himself, OCSO said.
Deputies said the 10-year-old had significant swelling to his left eye following the incident.
The victim’s mother arrived at the scene afterward and asked to press charges on the woman who restrained her child, the sheriff’s office said.
Rivera was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse with great bodily harm and false imprisonment.
She was then transported to the Osceola County Jail.
The sheriff’s office has requested the surveillance video from the apartment complex, but said they have not received it yet.
