A 1-year-old boy was struck and killed by an SUV being driven by his mother in West Park, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

The incident happened just after 2 p.m. Monday at a home in the 100 block of Allen Road.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old H was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban out of the driveway of the home when her son, W. ran out of the home.

The 1-year-old was struck by the SUV and rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Authorities said an investigation into the incident was ongoing but at this time detectives believe it was accidental.
