Mother and daughter arrested after neighbor reports hearing argument

A Leesburg mother and daughter were arrested for battery after a verbal dispute over a backyard mess escalated into a physical altercation.

An officer responded to a disturbance at 29971 Anahid Drive around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch received a phone call from a concerned neighbor advising they could hear a verbal disturbance and possibly a physical altercation at the residence.

Upon arrival, contact was made with 21-year-old ZMG. She stated she and her mother, 50-year-old ESA, were in a verbal argument. A grabbed her by the throat, so G pushed her. When asked why she pushed A, she stated she was upset about her leaving a mess on the back porch, the report said.

A then walked over to G’ stuff, which was when G said she pushed her. She thought A was going to flip the table where all her things were located, and she pushed her to prevent her from doing so, the report said.

Small scratches were observed on G’ neck. However, she refused to provide a written statement, the report said.

The officer was able to watch security footage of the verbal argument between the women. It showed A grabbing G by the neck before letting go and walking away. G then walked behind A and pushed her to the ground, the report said.

G was placed under arrest on charge of simple battery (domestic). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released on her own recognizance. She is responsible for appearing in court on April 8.

Contact was then made with A who stated she and her daughter were in a verbal argument when G pushed her. She stated they were arguing about her mess in the backyard. She also admitted to grabbing G by her neck. When she was walking away, G came up behind her and pushed her to the ground, the report said.

A was also arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and taken to jail. The native of Haiti was released on her own recognizance and is responsible for appearing in court April 9.
