A mother and daughter were killed in a crash in Boynton Beach Tuesday night, leaving behind a devastated family.
“My wife gone, my daughter gone,” said Junel Pochette.
Pochette’s wife, Marcia Pochette, and their daughter, Jenice Woods, both died in the crash.
“My wife, my daughter, I will never forget,” he said. “Their love will always remain in my heart.”
Mom, dad, and daughter all spent Tuesday together.
At one point, Woods told her parents that she and her husband were expecting their first child.
Then Woods and her mother went to grab food for dinner and never made it home.
Around 8 p.m., as they turned onto Meadows Boulevard, their car was hit by a driver speeding down Congress Avenue.
Junel got a notification on his phone about the crash.
“I call my wife. There’s no answer,” he said. “I know my wife. If she was in an accident, she would answer. Once I don’t hear her voice, I don’t hear a sound, I know my wife is gone.”
Both Marcia and Jenice were killed.
Boynton Beach police said 23-year-old Neoni Copeland was driving the car that hit them and ran from the crash.
He was quickly arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash.
At this point, he is not yet charged in connection with the deaths of a mother and daughter family calls two of the most beautiful people you’d ever meet.
“We are a team,” Junel said. “She loved me very much. And I love her very much.”
“This family is God-driven,” said Beth Jerome, Marcia’s goddaughter. “So, I’m putting my strength and my trust in God, and he will continue to help me and help us all to get through this.”
Then, speaking about the people she thought of as a sister and a mother, Jerome said, “They were always loved. And they will always be loved.”
