Motorcycle passenger killed, driver injured in Orange County 2-vehicle crash, troopers say

A passenger on a motorcycle was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Orange County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 4 p.m. at State Road 436 and Lake Pleasant Road.

According to a crash report, a Ford Maverick was traveling west on S.R. 436, approaching the intersection of Lake Pleasant Road in the left turn lane.

At the same time, a Harley Davidson Road King was heading east on S.R. 436, approaching Lake Pleasant Road in the inside lane.

Troopers said the driver of the pickup truck attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection and entered the direct path of the motorcycle.

According to the report, the front of the motorcycle struck the back of the pickup truck which caused the motorcyclist and a passenger on the Harley Davidson to be thrown from the bike.

The motorcyclist, identified as a 25-year-old Columbia, South Carolina man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bike’s passenger, identified as a 25-year-old Apopka woman, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to the FHP.

The driver of the truck, identified as a 60-year-old Apopka woman, and the Ford’s passenger, identified as an 18-year-old man, were not injured and remained at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
