A Friday morning crash at a busy Boynton Beach intersection left a West Palm Beach motorcyclist dead.
The crash happened around 7:08 a.m. June 12 at Boynton Beach Boulevard and El Clair Ranch Road, and involved a motorcycle and a sedan, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said 28-year-old G was riding a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on Boynton Beach Boulevard at a high rate of speed as he approached the intersection.
At the same time, the driver of a 2016 Kia Forte was stopped in the westbound lanes, waiting to turn left onto El Clair Ranch Road.
When the driver began the turn, G tried to brake, but there wasn’t enough time or distance to avoid a collision, according to investigators.
The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Kia in the intersection, throwing G from the bike. He landed a short distance away on the roadway, deputies said.
G, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:35 a.m.
The driver of the Kia, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
The intersection was partially shut down as deputies investigated. The crash remains under investigation, and no charges were filed as of Friday, according to the crash report.
