Motorcyclist dead following crash along SR-776 in Charlotte County

A man is dead after a motorcycle crash along State Road 776 in Charlotte County on Thursday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 7:40 p.m., a 30-year-old North Port man was riding a motorcycle east on SR-776.

An SUV was crossing the intersection of SR-776 and Roberta Drive.

FHP states the front of the motorcycle crashed into the left side of the SUV.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman driving the SUV sustained serious injuries with two passengers, 3 years old and under.

They were taken to a local hospital.

FHP states this crash remains under investigation.
