Motorcyclist dies after crash on Southwest Archer Road in Gainesville


GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – A Motorcyclist is dead after a vehicle crash in Gainesville Wednesday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers and ASO deputies responded to the 5600 block of Southwest Archer Road just east of Southwest 56th terrace just after 2:30 a.m.

Troopers say a 23-year-old man from Gainesville was traveling westbound in the left lane on Southwest Archer Road . A 44-year-old man driving a tanker truck was also traveling westbound on Southwest Archer Road in the right lane.

The motorcyclist lost control and was thrown off the motorcycle and into the path of the tanker truck and was hit. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

All of the westbound lanes on Southwest Archer Road were closed but have since reopened. Troopers are investigating the crash.
