Motorcyclist dies in crash near Myakka River State Park

A 21-year-old Sarasota man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle crashed on State Road 72 near Myakka River State Park, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Investigators say the motorcyclist was traveling east on State Road 72, east of Myakka Valley Trail, at about 12:30 p.m. when he lost control. The rider fell off the bike, which traveled off the roadway and came to rest on the grass shoulder ditch.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
