Motorcyclist dies in Tampa crash; police shut down street for investigation

A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash a day after Christmas, Tampa police said.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26 at the intersection of 50th Street and Washington Street, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police said the motorcyclist died at the scene. The person’s name has not yet been released.

The driver of the other vehicle involved stayed at the scene, according to authorities.

A News Channel 8 crew spotted a vehicle with damage to its rear right side, and debris was scattered across the road.

Southbound 50th Street from Adamo to Washington Street was closed while officers investigated. Drivers were asked to find another route.

Police said Friday they were still working to determine the cause of the crash.
