Motorcyclist killed after crashing into sign, tree in Marion County, troopers say

A Marion County man died after he ran off the road and hit a tree Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The 59-year-old was driving on County Road 35 just north of State Road 326 about 4:30 p.m. when he lost control while trying to make a left turn. He then hit a traffic sign and was thrown from the motorcycle, an FHP report said.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
