Motorcyclist killed in crash that closed several lanes on I-75 in Weston

A man on a motorcycle was killed in a crash that closed Interstate 75 in Weston on Tuesday night.

The crash happened after 7 p.m. on I-75 south at exit 15 on Royal Palm/Arvida Parkway.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Volkswagen Jetta and an Indian Challenger motorcycle were travelling southbound adjacent to each other. At some point, the Jetta’s back left collided with the motorcycle’s front right.

After the crash, the motorcycle overturned and the driver, a Miami Beach man, “separated” from the bike, authorities said. He was then hit by another car.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, FHP said. His name was not immediately released.

The other two vehicles stopped. The drivers were not injured and it is not clear if anyone will face charges in the deadly crash.

As of 9 p.m., four lanes of traffic were shut down for the investigation.
