Motorcyclist killed; passenger injured in fiery southwest Miami-Dade crash.

A motorcyclist has died and his passenger was hospitalized following an early morning crash in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.

According to Miami-Dade police Detective Angel Rodriguez, the crash was reported at 12:43 a.m. Thursday in the area of Southwest 262nd Street and 112th Avenue.

Rodriguez said the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his female passenger was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

A Local 10 News photojournalist was in the area later in the morning as a scorched vehicle remained at the scene.

Rodriguez confirmed that the occupants of that vehicle were not injured in the crash.

The MDPD Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
