Motorcylist dies in Northwest Jacksonville crash with SUV: JSO

A motorcyclist died on Monday night after they were involved in a crash with an SUV in the Northwest Jacksonville area, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

JSO said the motorcyclist, a man in his mid-30s, was riding north on Edgewood Avenue on a Kawasaki bike when an SUV heading south on Edgewood turned left to go east on 12th Street.

As the SUV was turning, the front of the vehicle hit the motorcycle, police said.

Medical crews arrived at the scene and declared the motorcyclist dead upon arrival, JSO said.

The driver of the SUV and a passenger were taken to the hospital, but officials said they are both reportedly in stable condition.

This crash marks the 145th traffic death in Duval County this year and the 40th involving a motorcycle.

The roadway remained closed in all directions as detectives completed their investigation.
