Deputies from two local sheriff’s offices remain at the scene of a crash that shut down all lanes of I-95 for miles in St. Lucie County overnight.

While southbound lanes have reopened, all northbound lanes of the Interstate remain closed from Midway Road to Orange Avenue.

A law enforcement helicopter sat on the highway around 9 a.m. flanked by sheriff’s office vehicles up and down the road. A multiagency command center is set up along the I-95 and a large number of investigators were still there as of 9 a.m.

Authorities have not indicated what led to the closure; however, a crashed SUV was spotted in the ditch off the highway.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled an update for 11:30 a.m. when more information is expected to be provided.

First responders are urging everyone to avoid the area during the closure and warn people to expect major delays on Tuesday morning.
