Multi-vehicle crash closes southbound lanes of I-95 at Sunrise Boulevard

A serious crash caused a large traffic backup on I-95 Sunday.

The accident involving multiple vehicles appeared to have occurred in the southbound express lanes to the south of Sunrise Boulevard just after 12 p.m.

One of the vehicles could be seen on its roof.

First responders quickly rushed to the scene to evaluate and treat injured victims.

Officials said there were several injuries as a result of the crash, one of which was considered critical.

All southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for hours but have since reopened.
