Multi-vehicle crash on State Road 298 leaves drivers injured: Florida Highway Patrol

Multiple drivers were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving a mail truck on Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to incident reports, troopers with FHP responded to State Road 298 (Lillian Highway) and North 57th Avenue around 3:33 p.m. on Tuesday for reports of a crash.

Investigations indicate that a Chrysler Sedan, a Chevy Sedan, a Hyundai Sedan, and a Ford Sedan were all traveling westbound on State Road 298 prior to the crash. A mail truck was traveling eastbound. Officials say that westbound traffic was coming to a stop, but the driver of the Chrysler failed to do so, resulting in the crash.

The Chrysler collided with the Chevy which struck the Hyundai. After hitting the Hyundai, the Chevy veered into the eastbound lanes and collided with the mail truck, according to reports. The mail truck was knocked through the fence line of a church cemetery. The Hyundai collided with the Ford.

Multiple drivers were taken to local hospitals. According to incident reports, the injuries are all minor.

FHP says the driver of the Chrysler was cited for careless driving and the driver of the Hyundai was cited for a learner’s license violation.
