Multi-vehicle crashes on Florida’s Turnpike causes major delays in Martin County

Two multi-vehicle crashes on Florida’s Turnpike in Martin County caused major traffic delays on Friday afternoon.

According to Florida 511, one of the crashes occurred at 12:37 p.m., before mile marker 126 in the northbound lanes. The severity of the crash is listed as major, according to Florida 511. At 2:12 p.m., there was an update. The traffic site says traffic is backed up all the way before mile marker 118, before Becker Road, and the right shoulder is blocked. Photos show the bumper-to-bumper traffic backing up the highway.

The second is another multi-car crash and is closer to mile marker 136, near Stuart, according to Florida 511. This crash is on the southbound lanes of the Turnpike, according to traffic cameras. Photos show Road Rangers and law enforcement blocking off the highway.

Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes, move over, or slow down in this area.
