Multiple people hospitalized after driver crashes while fleeing Treasure Island police

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said multiple people were hospitalized after a crash in Treasure Island on Saturday night.

The single-car crash happened at around 10 p.m. on March 28 near the intersection of 104th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard.

The sheriff’s office said Treasure Island police officers were attempting a traffic stop on the dark grey sedan, but the driver fled the scene.

Shortly after, the driver lost control of the car and struck a utility pole and a vacant building.

Photos and videos sent in by a viewer show the sedan badly damaged and with multiple airbags deployed.

PCSO did not clarify exactly how many people were in the car aside from the driver, but said all occupants were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

8 On Your Side has reached out to the Treasure Island Police Department for more information about the crash and any potential arrests, but has yet to hear back.
