Martin County fire Rescue (MCFR) crews responded to a house fire in Palm City just after 3:30 p.m on Saturday.

They received a call about a structure fire at a duplex in the 3100 block of SW Sunset Trace Circle.

In a Facebook”> post, MCFR says Engine 21’s crew made a quick knockdown on a kitchen fire, preventing further spread to the rest of the home.

Thankfully, no occupants were inside at the time of the fire. However, multiple pets — including a dog and several cats — did not survive.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
