Authorities in Miami-Dade County responded to a crash where a 9-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle.
It happened Friday night at the intersection of Sesame Street and Northwest 27th Avenue in Opa-locka.
Family members confirmed the victim was 9-year-old Everett Frazier.
They believe the boy was hit by a Miami-Dade Transit Bus while riding his bicycle to a friend’s house.
Police have not provided any details as to how the child was struck or whether they had anyone in custody.
At the scene, a bicycle was in the street and a bus at the scene appeared to have a cracked windshield.
Loved ones of the victim were seen gathered outside Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center late Friday night.
“My baby is hurting,” said Desiree Bozeman, the boy’s mother. “A bus hit my son. Whoever hit my baby, turn yourself in. It could be us today and you tomorrow.”
Opa-locka police officers remained at the scene late into the night.
Family members at the hospital said the boy is expected to survive, though there was no word the extent of his injuries.
