‘My neighbor’s son was shot up’: Miami Gardens residents shaken after overnight shooting

‘My neighbor’s son was shot up’: Miami Gardens residents shaken after overnight shooting

A residential street in Miami Gardens was the focus of an active investigation early Saturday following reports of a fatal shooting that sent emergency crews rushing to the scene around 11 p.m.

Miami Gardens police have not confirmed details about the incident, including the number of people involved or whether anyone was taken into custody.

The crime scene centered around a home on Northwest 30th Avenue, where detectives remained overnight and into the morning hours.

Yellow police tape cordoned off much of the street, and a tow truck removed a white car from the property just after 6 a.m.

At sunrise, more than a dozen people were seen gathered near the home as detectives made their way in and out of the residence.

C F, who lives nearby, said the home is occupied by multiple generations of a family.

“That is correct, yes,” she told Local 10 News when asked if a couple lived at the home along with other relatives.

F said her neighbor’s son was the victim in the incident.“Yes, the son, my neighbor’s son was shot up,” she said.

Police have not released the victim’s name or condition.

“All I know is that they’re good people, they stick to themselves, they keep everything nice and clean, so unfortunately something like this happened, so I’m sorry to hear it,” F added.

As daylight broke, Local 10’s LS was at the scene, where officers were still blocking off the area with patrol cars and flashing lights.

Detectives appeared focused on the home’s front porch, moving in and out while gathering evidence.

One resident told S she was inside playing cards when she was startled by a series of loud noises just before first responders arrived.

Another woman who returned to the neighborhood Saturday morning was unable to reach her home inside the taped-off zone and stood outside, waiting for answers.

Many neighbors, like her, expressed concerns and uncertainty about what unfolded and who may have been involved.

The victim’s age, identity, and a motive for the shooting remain unclear at this time.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
