UPDATE AUGUST 28:
Florida Highway Patrol detailed what happened in the crash in their report below.
A tractor-trailer, another tractor-trailer, a third tractor-trailer, a pickup truck and another pickup truck were traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in Gadsden County.
The first tractor-trailer, driven by a 54-year-old man from Kannapolis, NC failed to slow due to previous crash that occurred on the westbound lanes. This action caused a crash to occur involving all the vehicles at once. The pick up trucks came to final rest blocking the westbound lanes.
The first tractor-trailer traveled through the median and the front of that truck came to rest blocking the left travel lane of the eastbound side.
The second tractor-trailer came to rest on the north shoulder and the front of the vehicle collided with a tree. The third tractor-trailer came to rest in the median.
The Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Midway Police, Gadsden County Sheriff, Gadsden County EMS and Fire Rescue and DOT.

UPDATE:
At 11:28 p.m., the left-hand lane of Eastbound I-10 remains listed as closed. The left-hand lane of I-10 West is also listed as closed on the Florida Department of transportation’s Florida 5-1-1 website, at Mile Marker 185.
Florida Highway Patrol’s online log no longer lists the later two crashes as active incidents.

As of 10:41 p.m., the Florida Department of Transportation’s Florida 511 website says traffic is backed up to Mile Marker 183. Only the left-hand lane of Eastbound I-10 remains closed.

The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office says it has not had any fatalities reported following a pair of crashes on Eastbound Interstate 10, near Mile Marker 185 in Quincy.
According to the sheriff’s office, the first wreck involved four semi-trucks and three passenger vehicles. Florida Highway Patrol logs show that call came in shortly after 6:30 Tuesday night. After that initial crash, two more passenger vehicles wrecked; one about 8:10 p.m., the other just before 9:00 p.m.
The Sheriff’s office says one person was taken to the hospital with serious to critical injuries.
