Firefighters with the Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) and Newberry Fire Rescue (NFR) departments responded to a house on fire outside Newberry’s city limits Wednesday morning.
Crews said they arrived to find an active fire in the front bedroom, and the occupant of the home did not report any injuries.
However, they said one dog was found in the home passed away due to smoke inhalation.
ACFR officials said they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
