Numerous Charlotte County deputies are in the Deep Creek area of Charlotte County on Tuesday night after a deputy shot a suspect.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, they are at the scene of a shooting at Links Edge Condominiums on Saxony Circle.
The sheriff’s office said no deputies were shot and the suspect is in the hospital and stable. In addition, everyone is accounted for and there is no threat to the public.
CCSO was already there responding to a battery that involved the suspect, according to the sheriff’s office. They said that while deputies were speaking with the victim, the suspect approached.
According to CSSO, words were exchanged that led to a scuffle, and then shots were fired. The sheriff’s office said the deputy fired at least three times and the suspect was shot at least twice.
The deputy involved is also in the hospital because he is having heart issues, CCSO said.
There is a mobile command center and forensics teams on site. The road also remains closed.
There were multiple Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office deputies, an ambulance, and a fire truck. The sheriff was at the scene.
