Nurse finds man stabbed to death in Escambia County yard, woman wanted for questioning

An investigation is underway after a 48-year-old man was found stabbed to death in a front yard in Escambia County on Monday.

Family identifies the deceased as TP.

Deputies were called to a home on Dogwood Drive at Dogwood Place around noon.

According to the sheriff’s office, a home health nurse first arrived at the address for an appointment and found her patient face down in the yard covered in blood.

EMS and Fire arrived to administer first aid, but the victim was pronounced dead on scene from a stab wound to the chest.

An investigation is ongoing.

The sheriff’s office says 37-year-old SG is wanted for questioning regarding the incident.

“She has long black dreadlocks that reach her waist,” deputies say.

According to family, G was P’s live-in girlfriend. His family says P was making his way home from spending the night in a motel.

P’s cousin Marcus Sheffield met up with him Sunday night. Preyer told him he wanted some space after getting into an argument with his live-in girlfriend.

“He went to the motel to keep from just getting into it. ‘Cause he didn’t go far, but he was like a little ways down,” Sheffield said. “He didn’t want to cause any problem. He just wanted to live. That’s all. He just wanted to live.”

P’s brother Michael said he recently had surgery on his leg. He was using a wheelchair and crutches to get around.

“I don’t think he got around that much since he had the surgery and stuff,” said Michael. “But everybody, everybody was sitting right up there, family members and stuff, walking around and stuff. That’s how he was. He just was a everyday person. He liked to get around and meet people.”

His family are anxiously awaiting answers.

“Question needs to be answered,” Michael said. “I’m trying to just figure out what’s going on.”

Gulley has an active warrant with the sheriff’s office for Domestic Violence Battery.
