The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Ocala that claimed the life of a 35-year-old man on Friday evening.
At around 7:40 p.m., the man was riding his bicycle on County Road 314, near the intersection of NE 68th Court. He was traveling within the westbound travel lane ahead of an unknown vehicle, according to the FHP incident report.
FHP stated that as the vehicle approached the intersection, an “unknown portion” of the vehicle struck the bicyclist. Shortly after the collision, the vehicle fled from the scene of the crash.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
